Day 1 July 6, 2011
After some confusion with flights, I finally departed out of Logan airport for my trip on Delta flight 266 at 7:00 pm on Tuesday July 5th. My first flight was about 7.5 hours and arrived at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol around 8:15 am their time. I then took my second flight on KLM 1606, which departed at 9:40 am and arrived at Fiumincino, Aeroporti di Roma around 11:55 am. After picking up my bags I met up with the Fordham crew and we headed to Pontificio Collegio Irlandese (The Irish College of Rome). The campus is really beautiful, (I will upload photos soon) and has a really nice pool! The dorm rooms aren't extravagant but will do the trick! My roommate Kayla and I settled in until around 4:00 pm and then we had a group meeting where keys, maps and other information were distributed. After that we went for a stroll around Rome and stopped in at the Merulana Cafe for Bruschetta Aglio Olio extravergine d'oliva, Coke and Espresso to tide us over until dinner. (They eat dinner a lot later around here!) After that we hung out around campus until about 9 pm and then a group of 8 of us went to dinner at Naomachia. I had Pizza Margherita with Prosciutto and Wine. It was delicious! We had originally planned to go out after dinner but everyone was still exhausted/ jet lagged so we decided to call it a night around 11.
